green walls, foot races, tortillas, friends...
.....Sweety....
.....My Dearest roommate and Friend Tricia....This pic was taken one day after we were walking back from the river and saw this green wall and snapped some pics....
....For a more interesting post, a lot more information on life here, and more pics you can look at her blog at changethewaywepraise.blogspot.com !
This is sweet lil Marlen....The flower in her hair, I thought was interesting, it came off a tree but it looks like a clematis flower. /....Oh yea Someone asked if I was her mom!? lol i don't look that old do i?? But Its very normal here to have babies very young.
One day Tricia and I went around taking pics of the area, this is one of them. We were hoping for a very vibrant sunset but although we didn't get that God still gave us a very pretty sunset.
Back in Sept there was a big holiday here with foot races, bike races, food, and music. The boys from the orphanage help to participate in the foot races. This is Miguel, Diego, Domingo, and Morgan, who was here for two months with his family, watching the races.
...Learning how to make tortilla's!....Ana, a good friend, taught Tricia and I how to make um at her place over an open fire. We in exchange taught her how to make cake. The next day Tricia decided we would try to make tortilla's on our own, since we were now experts at it, an of course they ended up a big flop with the whole kitchen and dining room filling up with smoke....No, not really actually...They tasted fine and we ate um ...but i still think you can't beat making them on an open fire! These tortilla were corn and flower mixed. ....In this pic you can also see Ana's mother in the back peeking in...i love the way there life style is so relaxed and nothing matters! They have nothing better to do in the whole word than watch the gringos lol..
.....And the finished Tortilla's....
...Bri with Alma, Cynthia, Tita, Carla, Domingo, and Udiel....After Saturday School one day...

Neat post! It's great to hear some of what you're doing-I have thought about trying to make tortillas but haven't gotten brave enough. Does Derek have any plans to visit?
How are things going for. The kids there are so very cute.
mmm.... those tortillas look tasty!
You have some absolutely darling pics there... love the sepia overlay or whatever it is. And the tortillas do look quite tasty. I remember getting back from mexico, the land of the wonderful fresh tortillas from the tortilleria, and thinking that those little edible frisbee-shaped items found in the Walmart bread aisle were just plain sad.
Love your pictures, Stacey! I've been thinking that I need to try making tortillas again and haven't done it yet. Those sure look good! Have a great day. We miss you! Deb
@rakama - thankyou! yes i agree those edible frisbee-shaped items are sad and they taste like card board, The ones hereare much more edible. Im learning to eat a lot of dif foods here. The other day we ate cow stomach! ugg! And they didn't tell us tho of course till we were done eating it. It was like ...well...ok i won't tell you how it was but yea.....
